Since then, SCRA has played a significant role in the continued development of the IRF into the organisation it is today. The culmination of this work was at the last IRF Congress which was hosted by SCRA at Stirling in 2006. The next Congress is to be held in Bolivia in 2009. If you would like to help raise funds towards helping Rangers from less affluent countries attend the next Congress, SCRA is running the '£ per Mile Campaign' to raise £6,144 over the next 18 months.
The IRF aims are to provide a forum for rangers from around the world to share their successes and failures in protecting the world's heritage and to promote information and technology transfer from countries in which protected area management enjoys broad public and government support to countries in which protected area management is less well supported.
The IRF has a number of newsletters that are produced on a regular basis;
Download an issue of Guardaparque
Download a copy of the Thin Green Line
The IRF also has a website with details of all its activities and links to member associations around the world.
The International Rangers Federation Congress will be held in Bolivia later in 2009. Details are being finalised but bookings are now open.
Find out more at the International Rangers Federation pages at http://www.int-ranger.net/congress.html and at the booking pages for the event at http://www.guardaparque.org/
Please note, that if you plan on attending the event which is primarily for members of the Ranger associations, then please ensure you contact Tony Wilson as SCRA are hoping to achieve savings on travel by arranging group bookings.
