Membership Categories

New membership must be ratified by SCRA council. For the first year of membership only, a pro rata rate is available on membership fees, depending on how much of the current year remains.

Due to membership changes voted on and adopted during 2008, there have been some changes to SCRA membership in 2009. Please use the following notes as guidance to help you ensure you get the right membership level. The prices below are correct for 2010; online membership applications will be available shortly.

Full Membership (£35)

Holder is entitled to 3 copies of SCRAmble per year, direct e-mail updates, full access to SCRA Online including members only pages, discounted training (in 2009 this will be £30 discount per course organised and run by SCRA - excludes regional training events), full voting rights. Open to anyone that would like to join at this level. A discount is available pro rata for that joining part way through the year. A £5 discount is applicable each year to members that renew before the end of January.

Supporter (£25)

Membership available for anyone that would like to join but does not wish to become a full member. It is envisaged that this level of membership will become redundant in 2012. Holder is entitled only to issues of SCRAmble.

Student/Unemployed (£25)

Membership only valid on application with proof of unemployment or student status, which would need to be re-demonstrated at each renewal. Would be available to Seasonal Rangers if unemployed at time of purchase. Full access to SCRA Online, including members only pages (with online versions of SCRAmble) and access to one discounted training course each year. This level can be upgraded at anytime with payment of difference between joining fee and pro rata full membership rate.

Team (see below)

This membership level is designed for Ranger Service employers – Local Authorities, National Trust, FCS etc. Entitles an organisation to join and receive full individual membership (as per Full Membership) for all Rangers named on application. Memberships are non-transferable if a Ranger leaves the post.

Teams of 1 – 3 = £110 
Teams of 3 – 6 = £180 
Teams of 6 – 15 = £300 
Teams of 15 or more = £500

When applying for a Team Membership a Team Membership form must be sent in accompanied by separate membership forms for each Ranger included in the Team. No further discounts are applicable to this level of membership.

Affiliated Organisations (£85)

Like a Supporter, this membership is designed for Organisations who wish to support the work of SCRA, but not necessarily participate actively – may include FE and HE Colleges, other Educational Establishments or other Associations. Affiliated Organisations will receive 2 copies of SCRAmble to the registered address.

Ranger Manager (£30)

To engage with experienced Ranger Managers a discounted rate is available. This takes cognisance of the fact that Managers are less likely to take up training opportunities. It is anticipated that prospective mentors will fall into this category.

Honorary Member

In the gift of council, for those who have contributed to the development of the profession over a period of time.
